The second Functions code you offered didn’t cause the site to go down, however the topbar menu still doesn’t appear. Please guide me how to get it to come in.

I went to Appearance > Editor and fund out you added a wrong file in wrong place on your child theme:

YAY my topbar menu is back and looks great! The pro theme folders didn’t include the “global” folder so I created it, moved _topbar.php into it and bingo.
