This page isn’t working

Hi, my website is down after removing the content js - jQuery(“#dashboard-link").wrap("”);

I didn’t save the content page after removing this line, but still having issues. Now when I try to login into WP admin to fix it or loading my website, it shows:

This page isn’t working
www.fylgi.is didn’t send any data.
ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

Please help!

Hello @mercury913,

Thanks for writing in! Any JS script will not affect nor have any conflict with server responses. You may have encounter server outage which is why you are seeing the error right after you made any changes. When I check your site and your WP login url, I do not encounter such issues by the way. That moment may just be a sudden spike of web traffic or has something to do with your server and not your site.

Please check your site again.

Hhmmm ok, thanks for checking it out. It’s still not working for me, I hope it will tomorrow.

What does the jQuery(“#dashboard-link").wrap("”); do? I removed it because I don’t see it being relevant.

Hey There,

Please clear all your plugin cache including your browser cache. You may use private browsing or incognito mode and test your site again.

The JS code will wrap the element that has an ID “#dashboard-link”. And this will only take effect in the front end and not on the server side.

Hope this helps.

OK. I checked with my website hosting. My hosting said that this is Wordpress security system, when someone is making drastic change to the website, Wordpress blocks the “user”. I waited for it to release “me” and now it’s working. Is there a way to define a few “safe” IP addresses?

In the past months, my website has many referral visitors from Russia, Latvia, Italy and Portugal. All these countries are not relevant visitors and have no business to visit my website. And the page of visit is (not set) from Google Analytics. Are these hackers? How can I protect my website from hackers?

Thank you so much for helping.

Hello @mercury913,

You may use 3rd party plugin to step up your site security.
Perhaps one of the plugins here could help you:

Hope this helps.
