This element could not render due to invalid markup. You may have unclosed HTML tags in your content

Hi, I’ve checked all the related posts, and conducted my own series of common-issue checks (such as disabling plugins etc), but still have this issue and it’s making it impossible to do any work on the site, I could really do with some support on this.

I also checked the custom HTML widget for unclosed tags, but they’re fine.

I ran the source code through a code completion checker and that seemed fine too.

I also thought it might be tripping up on either <img> tags without the /> or <link> tags with a /> so fixed them, but that doesn’t seem to help.

I can provide log in details if needed?

Hi Scott,

Thanks for reaching out.
Although we don’t provide any support to the custom HTML issues, still we are curious to know what is the reason behind the problem. Before you provide the login details, I would suggest you please delete the sections one by one till the issue is fixed, and the last one you delete might have contained the broken HTML. If that does not help, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

I would suggest you check by deleting the sections one by one till the issue is fixed,
Thanks

Hi @tristup, sorry I confused you I think.
I have custom HTML sections in my wordpress widget areas, not directly in cornerstone, so I’m not asking for support on that. Also, this issue happens with nearly all of the cornerstone pages, so deleting a section on a single page doesn’t help.
I actually already did provide log in details in a secure note on the first page.
I’ve been putting up with this for a while, following the advice given to others and still not getting anywhere, so as a last, frustrated, resort I raised this ticket … thanks so much for your help

Hi Scott,

I have checked the page and found the issue as you described it. The problem you are having might be due to the improper update of the X theme and Cornerstone plugin, I would suggest you follow the below steps to troubleshoot.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone
  2. After delete please use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone.

If that does not help, there might be other reasons behind your issue. I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

  1. Theme Related Issue
  2. Plugin Conflict
  3. Theme Update related issue
  4. Child Theme Related issue
  5. CSS/JS Customization
  6. Disabling Cache
  7. Disabling CDN

If none of the above help, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access to the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Thanks @tristup, this sounds promising. Before I do that, can I confirm … the cornerstone content I have on the site will not be effected. If I delete, then reinstall, the content will still be there and work?
Thanks for your expertise!

Hi Scott,

It does not affect the existing content, still, I would suggest you take a backup of your website before start troubleshooting.

Thanks

I seem to be having trouble deleting the plugin…

Hello Scott,

This is usually caused when you have a caching plugin active, I would suggest you purge all the cache and then temporarily deactivate the cache plugin after that you can deactivate and delete the plugin.

Please have a look at this article to learn more about how to delete the plugin.

Hope it helps
Thanks

Ahh, don’t worry. When I clicked the tick box, the “Bulk Actions: Delete” it worked, but then … :scream:

However, I then emptied the caches and things seemed to be up and running, but alas …

the problem persists!

Wahoo!! Found it!!

RankMath SEO is causing a conflict.

Hmm, now how do I get Themeco and RankMath to work together to fix that …??

Hello Scott,

Glad that you were able to find out the plugin conflict. We are still in the process of integrating the Rank Math but it is not fully compatible, or not yet fully integrated. There is only a certain degree that which it might work.

Thanks
