This Element Could Not Render Due to Invalid Markup Error

Hello All!

I’ve searched for all of the possibilities that could cause this. It happens on every page, so it seems like it is a site-wide issue. I’ve made sure that all plugins are up to date, along with the theme and cornerstone. I have not done any major updates to the site itself for over a month, but I update only one page on it almost daily.

I’ve also purged all cache. I am leaving the username and password in the private summary.

Hi @pdxcomps,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked in the specified page and elements are loaded properly and also while editing no errors are shown. As per your screenshot, it seems that some HTML content is the reason behind your problem. I would suggest you delete the section one by one and check if the issue resolves. The last one you deleted before the fix is the actual issue.
Please remember that custom content issue is beyond the scope of Theme Support.

Thanks

I am now getting this same error on multiple Pro sites as well, along with some other issues. Latest update may be buggy

Hi @capecodbob,

I would suggest you open a new thread and share the WordPress admin credentials in the secure note for further investigation.

Thanks

I’ve now tried editing on multiple computers. It loads just fine, but if I change any existing text or try to replace an image, everything goes away. I’ve also tried on Chrome and Edge, same problem.

I’ve already deleted the sections 1 by 1. Didn’t work.

But like I said earlier, this is happening on EVERY page, not just the one I linked you. Looks to be a bug in the latest update or something. I’ve also disabled every plugin and it still doesn’t fix it.

Hi @pdxcomps,

I have checked multiple pages but didn’t find the issue you are describing here. I would request that you make a screen-capturing video to understand the steps to replicate the problem.

Thanks

I am including a link to the screen capture in a private note. I simply try to replace the image with another one, and it happens. I can also try to edit any type of text, and it happens.

Mine is every page as well. It’s all there but the second I touch it, even add a period to a paragraph, all of the elements turn into this error

Hi @capecodbob,

In your case, it might be for some different reason, and that is why I requested you create a new thread.

Thanks

Hi @pdxcomps,

I have checked your website thoroughly and found an additional attribute named Inner Tag in the Row element, which might be a reason or any plugin that might be injecting it. I would suggest you please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access to the secure note, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Please see the secure note attached. Thank you!

Hi @pdxcomps,

I have deactivated all the plugins except the Cornerstone in your staging server and now the issue you reported is not coming anymore. I would suggest you activate the plugins one by one and check which one actually causes the error.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Strange! It seems to be the woocommerce plugin. Any suggestions on why this would be doing this? I assume you guys haven’t had any other issues from other people?

I have downgraded to the previous version of woocommerce to see if this fixes the problem, but it does not. There has to be a way to fix this. Any help is GREATLY appreciated here.

Hi @pdxcomps,

I have checked by activating the WooCommerce and WooCommerce addon plugins, but it worked perfectly fine. I would suggest you again activate the plugins one by one and check which one is the reason behind your problem.

Thanks

It’s WooCommerce. I have the same exact issue. But WooCommerce of course says it’s the theme and not them. I don’t know if X Pro is compatible with the new instances of WooCommerce. I can’t update WooCommerce until this is resolved, which is posing security issues.

It is 100% woocommerce.

I disabled ALL plug-ins, and the error went away. I then enabled just the main woocommerce plug in, and now the error comes back.

This is a SITE WIDE issue, happens on every single page. Woocommerce says it is a theme issue, and that they are aware of it. Told me to speak to theme support.

Please look into this asap.

Yeah according to them, it’s a theme conflict. And WooCommerce is a bit too important for X Theme to not be fixed for compatibility with their updated platform.

We’ve copied the site in question to our systems and are not able to recreate the issue. The only thing I could not test is the WP Engine side of things. I would reach out to them or start disabling features through there UI. Probably best to setup a staging site so we can get more aggressive with testing. If you also have this issue, create another thread so we can take a look. We are currently not able to determine why sites are breaking like this.

I created a testing site like you asked, and put the information in a secured note. You have full priviledges to do whatever you want on it. I will update this post with the secured note and all of the info you need as well.
