Third Party Widget in Cornerstone X Theme Global Block

Hi,

I manage the website for our parish, however I have literally no coding experience. We just switched to a new bulletin content company that provides PDF version of physical documents. In order to have these documents appear on the website, we have to use their widget. This is the code given, which I imagine needs more in order to actually do anything:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://widget.parishesonline.com/publications?id=7b33ee4b098a8f2ff641dfa21c5853d9ab87a6f5"></script>

Currently, our bulletin PDF’s can be be downloaded through a global block on the home page (global block on the right titled (Weekly Bulletin). I would like to be able to place the new content in the same place, but could you help me figure out what other code needs to be used in order to get the content accessible and visible?

Thanks!

David

Hi David,

Thank you for writing in, adding that script to your site is easy, you can either place that in a div + raw element combo, or use the Insert Headers and Footers plugin, however, it seems there are additional steps before the PDF’s bulletin shows up.

Can you clarify that is the only step given?

Thanks,

Hi thanks for the reply!

Yes, per the website’s instructions at the bottom of the page, the “Unless you also manage and regularly make changes to your website, you’ll need to pass this code along to your webmaster, who will paste it into your website in the appropriate location and ensure the widget functions correctly.”

I’m glad to hear that this is a simple thing to do. The only other step I could think that isn’t necessarily code related is that documents must populate on the Parishes Online portal. Since we just started with them we only have one done by them so far.

Hi David,

I just check the documentation and only the script should be added to your website so that it will display the PDF files. That being said, I suggest that you double check the settings on your parishes online account. Please note that integrating 3rd party script is outside the scope of our theme support. My colleague is just giving you a starting point on how you can implement it.

If you are not able to figure it out, you may seek 3rd party developers to help you with your problems or you can avail One where we can answer questions outside of the features of our theme.

Hope that helps and thank you for understanding.
