Theme creates posts that I delete and they reappear

Hi there

I’m using xTheme for the following site: https://yogastudio.net.au/

for some reason, it keeps adding posts (27 of them to be exact). Every day I log in and delete the posts including going to trash and deleting them permanently but the next day the posts are back…

I have no idea how this is happening.

Thanks

Hello Lizbonney,

Thanks for asking.

That’s quite odd problem you are facing. I suggest you to activate WordPress default theme to see if the problem still there. If the issue is there, then there are two possibilities:

  1. Most likely it’s a hosting related issue that you need to get in touch with hosting company support team.
  2. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Feel free to let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

Hi Jade

No luck, it just keeps on adding around 27 posts that seem to be automatically generated from xtheme. I delete them each day.

cheers

Hello @lizbonney,

Thanks for writing in and sorry to hear that you’re still having this issue.

Did you happen to try switching to another theme for a while to see if the problem persists as @Prasant mentioned? If it’s possible for you to do so for a couple days, that could help to narrow things down that it is indeed not happening due to the theme and is instead some type of hosting issue. If you have not done this, I would recommend doing this to see if the posts still reappear when another theme has been used for a couple days.

Also, regarding the posts that keep reappearing: are they specifically X Demo Content, or are they old posts of yours that you recognize?

All that being said, even if the posts are X Demo Content, because of the nature of this problem (and the fact that I have not heard this reported by anyone else), I am inclined to believe that this is likely a matter you will need to take up with your host. Perhaps you have some type of backup system in place that is erroneously triggering each day, causing the issue to persist. At this time I would personally recommend contacting your host to see if they can help you with this or shed anymore insight on things, as this will most likely be something for them to fix on their end. After consulting and working with them, if they cannot seem to locate the source of the issue and you have tried switching themes for a couple days to see if the problem persists with another theme, let us know and we can continue to look into this.

P.S. As @Prasant also mentioned, do you have any type of backup plugin installed on your site that might be misconfigured? That would also be something to look into as well with your host.

Thanks so much for your time and help Ill try this : )

You’re welcome, Liz.

No backup plug in installed and it is demo contact from xtheme that is being posted. We use WP hosting for 8 websites and its not happening with any of the others. Its like some auto post thing is turned on or its hacked

Hi @lizbonney,

I too am unable to reproduce this on my installation so it’s not a theme or demo specifically. I also recommend migrating a copy of your site to another host just for your to test and compare. I’m not saying you should move, but just to make sure it’s not host related (database cache, automation, and so on).

Thanks!

Thank you I will do : )

You’re welcome!
