The Grid vs Essential Grid: the lightest solution?

I’d like to know which of these two grid plugins is lighter, with simpler code and without too many unnecessary resources to be loaded (js files).

I need to provide a basic navigation grid layout without too many bells and whistle, I only want the ability to customize the appearance of these grids to match the overall layout of the whole site; and optionally also use it as a gallery plugin (in order not to have a separate one) that could display local images, flickr galleries and the occasional youtube video.

What is the less heavy of the two?

For me, the Essential Grid is more flexible, though more bloated. It comes down to what you wish to achieve, it really depends on that. We don’t have any knowledge about the difference between the two, but you can always check their respective documentation and compare the available features.
