The Grid video content

Hi,
II’m trying to build a grid with The Grid with some videos uploaded directly from the site, but I can’t make them appear.
I tried various video formats including a video example taken directly from The Grid site and I tried to remove all the custom CSS but nothing.
At this address https://solid3d.it/contatti/ I set up a temporary grid with four videos (“surf” is the video taken from the Grid examples site), could you help me understand what I have to do?

I send you the credentials to access the site in a secure note.

Thank you and good day

Hey @solid7d,

The credentials provided are incorrect. Please check.

I checked your contact page though and it looks like the skin you’re using does not display a video. Please check the grid skin or try editing the skin. Watch the tutorial below for usage instructions.

Thanks.

Hi @christian_y,
sorry for the credential, now these that I am attaching should work.
I tried to understand by watching the video, but I only saw customizations of texts, buttons, etc … I don’t seem to have seen anything about how to set up a skin with video content. It is certainly a very simple thing, but I just can’t find it. If you could access the site you will now find a grid called “Didattica 2” and a skin which is also called “Didattica 2”: you can freely modify them because they are duplicates.

Thanks again and have a good day

Hey @solid7d,

Sorry for the confusion. I forgot that it was the Essential Grid that has HTML5 (self-hosted) video support so I’d recommend that you use Essential Grid. I saw that you’ve already installed it so, you only need to set your grid up. Below is an overview of the setup and here’s the documentation: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/extension-essential-grid/68

1. Choose Custom Grid and set HTML5 Video as Media Source

2. Manually add your videos to the grid.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alternatively, since I saw that you’ve built your contact page using the Content Builder, use the Video element. For usage instructions, see https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/elements-video/10406

Hope that helps.

Hi @christian_y,
thanks for the support but unfortunately no, it doesn’t help me because I would like to use “The Grid” and not “Essential Grid”.
I know very well that you are doing what you need by recommending Essential Grid, but it is also true that I switched to Pro just to use new tools including “The Grid” and since it is included in the “Pro” theme I thought you could help me such a basic issue, since I tried to seek support from “The Grid” but it doesn’t seem to be there.

In any case, as said before, I thank you for the attempt and I wish you a good evening

Hello @solid7d,

Can you please update your WP credentials so that we can log in and check your TheGrid settings?
Meanwhile, you can check out this documentation on how to create a grid with a video in it.

Thanks.

HI @RueNel,
I’ll sign you on a secure note below the credentials. I tried to look at the link but what I see if I enter the video settings is what you see in the attached screenshot. To be sure, yesterday I tried to set videos on all grids, but nothing. I also tried uploading the .webm format, but nothing yet.
As mentioned, it’s definitely something stupid, but I can’t find what is wrong. I put the custom CSS back in the Pro options because I don’t think it affects it, but if you need it you can also delete it because I have a saved copy of it.

Thanks and have a good day

Hey @solid7d,

I recommended the Essential Grid and Pro’s Video element because they are the straightforward approach or method to add self-video grid to your page.

Since you really wish to use The Grid, you will need to add each of your videos to each your posts. Right now, your grid source is Media Library. You will need to set it to Posts or for your case, Articoli. If you don’t want to use your posts, you need to create your own custom post type. Creating a custom post type is beyond the scope of our support.

The reason why you only see 2 options in the Grid dialog or popup is because your Source is Media. If you’re expecting videos in your media library to display in the grid automatically, that is not possible.

Take a look at The Grid’s Post Format demo here: https://theme-one.com/the-grid/post-formats/. Scroll down till you see the HOSTED VIDEO post. I believe you got the surf video from that demo. If that is what you want, set your Source to your posts and follow the Media Setting instructions as posted by Ruenel.

Thanks.

Thanks @christian_y,
the problem was exactly that: I had to create a post with a video uploaded in the Grid settings (you don’t even need to add it directly to the post), add an alternative image and now it works.
I moved the definitive gallery to the section “Didattica” and I’m good to go.

Thanks again and good evening.

We are delighted to assist you with this.

Cheers!
