added a gallery and successfully added the username, the gallery loads fine but once a new post is added it does not display in the gallery. I guess there is way to set the interval for synching the instagram profile and the gallery

There is no setting for the synching or interval of the synch of the instagram account. Please check for the grid caching. You may have enabled it. You can clear the cache in The Grid > Global Settings > Caching System.
