The Grid - Instagram Feed Non-Square Images

I’m using “The Grid” to feed in images in from Instagram. I want to make this into a Masonry Grid with variant image dimensions. The problem is that all the images from this account are square and therefore do not create the ideal layout desired.

How can I achieve the layout below while feeding in square images from Instagram?

This is my current layout:

You can see it on the live site here at the bottom of the page: https://rossettibev.wpengine.com/

Hello @santosfel5

You can set Instagram feed into Masonry Grid for that you need to follow these steps.

Go to The Grid--->Edit

Please have a look at the screenshot below

Hi @PrakashS

I did already set my grid to Masonry Grid. That’s what the issue is. Even though I’ve set it to Masonry Grid because the pictures are all square coming from Instagram, I’m not getting the variety of aspect ratios desired to make that formate useful.

How can I make the images show up in a variety of dimensions when the base photo is square?

Basically this is what I need:

  1. Feed in Instagram photos
  2. Make the images cover their container in center center
  3. Then crop whatever is outside the aspect ratio

A photo like this…
square-cocktail

Becomes a photo like this in the Masonry Grid gallery
cocktail-portrait

Hi @santosfel5,

Regretfully, there is no such option in Essential Grid, to get the images in different aspect ratio along with square in dimensions.
You can only have the option to select the image sizes from Source > Soucre Size.

Thanks

@tristup I’m not using the Essential Grid plugin. I’m using “The Grid” plugin (pictured below).

Hello @santosfel5,

Regretfully there is no such option in the “The Grid” plugin at the moment. You can make your layout as Masonry Grid with Instagram feed’s image and Instagram content.

The layout that you want to achieve is not possible at the moment because Instagram feeds provide the image size is 640px.

Controlling aspect ratio like from square to the rectangle is only possible with Grid layout instead of Masonry, and it’s itself is plugin limitation.

Thanks
