The Grid - Increase Quality of YouTube Thumbnails

Hi,

I am using The Grid plugin to display a slider style stream of a YouTube playlist but when the plugin imports the image the thumbnail is always low quality. I know that there are high quality thumbnails available as I made them myself.

Is there a way to force the plugin to always use the highest quality of the thumbnail?

Hi there,

Thanks for writing around! I checked your slider images and I see they are of very low resolution (for example see https://i.ytimg.com/vi/23dccJpg1_c/hqdefault.jpg)

Can you please check and confirm if you’re using high resolution images as I’ve checked and they are of low resolution.

They are 1920x1080. They look fine on Twitch and YouTube. It is just when the grid pulls them in for that particular grid that they look so low res. Is there a way to force the grid to pull in the higher res image?

I will add a copy of one of the images used to the homepage beneath for comparison.

Hi Mark,

Unfortunately, there is no option for the Grid plugin to select the quality of the thumbnails. I also checked their official documentation here and there is no mention of that in the Channels section of the Youtube integration.

We will add this as a feature request and inform The Grid developers. It is up to them to follow up and decide to implement such a feature or not.
