Text-only editing not being enforced for custom role

I’ve set up a custom role “manager” with some basic permissions. I have enabled “text-only” editing for “manager” user using pro settings.

Problem is, if I’m logged in as a manager, I get full access to pro- headers/footers, everything.

How do I properly enforce text-only editing for my custom role? Pro controls just aren’t working.

Hi @liquidedge,

Thank you for writing in, this could be a plugin conflict, please do the common troubleshooting guide provided here.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

I forgot to add that I’ve already done that. I’ve tried disabling all plugins and swapping back to the base Pro theme instead of my child theme, and my custom role STILL has full access to pro.

Please note that this is a live website so if you intend on doing any testing yourself please enable the under construction page before doing so. If deeper troubleshooting is required I’ll set up a testing copy of the site for you.

Hello @liquidedge,

Thanks for updating in! I can confirmed that the issue is happening in your site. This could be a bug in the latest release of the User Role plugin that you are using. Please test for a plugin conflict.

Meanwhile, can you please double check whether our manager has the same level of permissions to the administrator? The role with limited access should only see fewer menu items in the Pro dropdown.

Please bear with us.

@ruenel, I’ve already told you I’ve done that.

Hi @liquidedge,

Sorry about that, but It seems your User Role Editor plugin is overruling the Pro permission setup.

I tried to replicate this issue on my end with the SEO Manager (because I don’t have the custom role Manager), and I don’t get the same issue.

So it could be, the User Role Editor plugin or how the user role Manager was defined, either way, it seems this is not an issue with the Theme.

Thanks,

OK, so then how do I create a new role that’s compatible with your permissions settings?

Hi @liquidedge,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. Unfortunately, creating a user role is not part of the theme features. I do understand the frustration, at this moment, you might want to consult a the plugin developer regarding the issue or consult a web developer directly.

I also found this guide that might help.
