Testing homepage as LIVE TEST on Google Search Console reveals loads of Page resources errors (18/68 couldn't be loaded)

If all or some of the resources from your site aren’t loading, it could be due to security or robots.txt blocking the access from robots (like googlebot). Please check this https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2387297?hl=en

I recommend contacting your hosting provider to have it fixed.

I changed the robots.txt to:

User-agent: *
Disallow:

… which I thought should cover it for testing purposes, but now I get 36 errors, so it’s worse.

Any other ideas?

Hi Murray,

Try to recrawl URLs of your site, please follow the guide here, the Step 2: Submitting XML Sitemap to Recrawl URL.

And navigate to Settings > Reading and make sure the Discourage search engines from indexing this site is not tick.

Also, if you have any caching and security features please deactivate it for a while.
