Tag link error!

hey guys ! I hope you are well.
I have a little issue at linking a picture to an internal tag. I believe I am doing things right but probably not.
here the screen shots, of the tag url, the link and the landing page…
as you can see in the url of the landing page it repeat twice the site url… which is wrong…

could you please have a look? thanks a lot

I am so sorry guys, my bad. The problem is not with the tag, but with the category. The weird thing is I have resolved with the category “Itinerary” which link correctly, but it doesn’t work with the category “hotel-reviews”
here a screen shot on how I link it.
and this is the home page where the links are

thanks a lot and sorry again for the confusion.
cheers

Hi,

You need to enter absolute path in the href field.

Change href to https://www.boundlessroads.com/travel/hotel-reviews/

Hey paul
thank you so much.
this is weird. I am not sure why the url of the category is travel/hotel-reviews because It’s not under travel.
infact it doesn’t work.
could you please help me find out?
thanks a lot

Hi There,

Could you please check your .htaccess file and see if you have any re-write rules or else you need to check if you’re using any re-direction plugin.

Thanks!

I am sorry but I don’t understand what you are talking about :joy:
could you speak as if you are talking to a 5ys old?pliz.
where do I check the .htaccess file and where do I see if there are those rules?

thanks much for your patience:)

Hello There,

Please forget the .htaccess. I have logged in and it turns out that “Hotel Reviews” is actually a sub category of Travel. Please go to Posts > Categories and you will see what I mean.

Hope this helps.

Hey there
thank ytou so much I have resolved it. But now I have another problem of the same topic with another category. I think i have done a lot of messing up at the beginning and I have done to many changes…
so I need to link to the category pueblos-magicos. The problem is that this category is a subcategory of MEXICO who is a subcategory of WHERE. I need to delete “Where” because I don’t use it anymore and it is messing up all my links… but I don’t seem to have the option. could you help ?
thanks a lot

thanks a lot

Hey There,

You cannot delete Where because it is a parent category. You will need to create another category, reassign all the sub categories to this new category and remove Where as the parent category of all of its sub categories before you can delete.

Hope this make sense.

mm… I think so… but what if I just uncheck all the post from the where category so it will be without post assigned to it. Would that work? I don’t really want to create another parent category.
thanks al ot

Hey There,

Even if you remove the category from your post, the category - sub category relationship would still be the same. You will need to re structure your categories to have something like http://example.com/category/sub-category/ link url.

Hope this helps.

hey there,
yes I did that. I deleted from the category menu… here the screen shot. So where is not parent to any category anymore. and I have restructured the categories in a different way

or if you wish to check I will send you the info to get into the site.

Going back to the main issue. If I have the Category PUEBLOS MAGICOS, whose parent is MEXICO , whose parent is TRAVEL. why the url of the category is like the below in the attachment? why /./ ?
shouldn’t it be www.boundlessroads.com/travel/mexico/pueblos-magicos ?

thanks a lot for clarification…

Hi there,

There seems to be a problem with the settings of the Yoast plugin that you use as even the Travel Category shows wrong:

But if you click on the VIEW link of the PUEBLOS MAGICOS category you will see that it opens the correct URL:

https://www.boundlessroads.com/travel/mexico/pueblos-magicos/

This is not related to our theme and you need to contact the Yoast SEO plugin developers for more help.

Oh ok thanks. I am sorry I thought this last question was releted to the first.
