It displays great on desktop but not on mobile, where it displays horizontally. How can we make the mobile version look exactly like the desktop?

What you are trying to achieve is not recommended setup for mobile view. Making tab heading and content side by side is not suitable for mobile view because of limited space. Those are intended behaviour of the responsive tab. With that so much text on tab content, it will be squeeze on the right if we do that.
