System font not loading – GDPR problem

Hi, I followed all the instructions in the font manager manual – I installed system font open sans in the font manager (as .woff as well as .ttf) – but I can’t click at them in the customizer/typography, there is only “inherit” possible. And the font on the page is not Open Sans.

What went wrong? Thank you! Ute

P.S. I have to do these changes for all my clients (all X-Theme based) according to the GDPR compliance so I really need support.

Hello @UteWieckhorst,

Thanks for writing in! After uploading the custom fonts, you need to make sure that you have enabled the Font Manager. Please check out these old threads:

Best Regards.

Hi,

I tried every link and advice – nothing works. So I need your help please.

Here my details:

Hey @UteWieckhorst,

You’ve not added any fonts to the Font Manager system yet. You just added a Custom Font. To add a font in the Font Manager, click the Add New button under the Fonts title and choose your Custom Font. That is how fonts are listed in the Font Manager and be available under Theme Options and the builders.

Thanks.

But aren’t these google fonts? II have to avoid google fonts because of the german law?

  1. Google / System Fonts: Add aliases and assign fonts to theme.
  2. Google Subsets: Add Google Font subsets if needed.
  3. Adobe Fonts: Connect your website with your Adobe Fonts account if you want to use that service for your website fonts.
  4. Custom Fonts: Upload custom web fonts to your website (e.g. .woff files).

Thanks again – we are close to success, I hope.

Hey @UteWieckhorst,

No. That applies to Custom Fonts as well. Try changing your custom fonts name to something custom so that you’ll not confuse them with Google Fonts.

Thanks.

Oh thanks – the name changing thing helped!!
Could you give the site a last check to be sure I use the downloaded fonts?
Then I can update all my client’s sites.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Hey @UteWieckhorst,

I check your setup and you are already using the custom font on your website.

Hope that helps.

Great – thank you so much for the support!
