Switching to Pro no child theme

Hi there,

I have read every article/question related to switching over to pro from X but I just need a few things clarified if you don’t mind:
I was using a X child theme before but it was having some issues so I just have the regular X theme activated ( although I still have X child theme on my server it is just deactivated). If I upload the Pro Child theme directly and deactivated the X theme I have now, activate the Pro theme will that be enough or do I need to have Pro and then Pro Child theme on my server? I had broken the site earlier this week when I uploaded Pro to my site and activated it and I am wondering if it would make a difference if I uploaded Pro Child theme instead? Is there any files I need to edit like functions files somewhere that would have caused the site to break? I know in an article you mention making changes to an existing X child theme files to Pro but if I upload just the Pro child theme I imagine it has the changes necessary? I just want to make sure I am not missing anything. Thanks!

Hi Andrea,

If you do not want to use your X Child Theme. You just need to upload the Pro and then The Child Pro. And you will not have any problems even if the X Child Theme is there. Please consider as long as you do not activate the X child Theme, having it on the server does not have any effect.

Having said that, I think you have problems with the Pro theme installation as you mentioned and you think it might be because of the Child Theme. I doubt that. It must have another reason. Please move your website to a staging server and install the Pro theme. If you have problems please contact us by adding a new thread to follow up the case.
