Support for an issue with background video

Hi guys
We have site with a vimeo vid running as a background. We did not set up a child of this site when it became a production site. This was not a problem, until now. As we have not been in control of updates a third party support team has been updating the content. And we have discovered after a sweep of updates the background video is no longer playing.
Can you advise on your approach for this?
We are thinking

  1. get a child version on board
  2. get 6 month support from you
  3. rebuild the row affected with new cornerstone elements with your advice

Hi There,

I Can see an JS error on your console.

Please confirm you are fully updated.

If you have cache and optmization plugins please try turning off for plugin conflict.

If the issue persists, please provide your WP Admin credentials so we can take a closer look.

Thanks!

Hi Joao
We are fully updated
We have tested deactivating all relevant plug ins with no change evident to the issue
Thanks in advance

Hi There,

Upon checking your website you are a few versions behind on the theme.

There is no updates available on your dashboard, which is incorrect.

Please try revoking the license from wp admin > X (addons) and removing your URL from:

https://theme.co/apex/licenses

And assing your URL again and validate your site again.

If the update still not available on WP dashboard.

Please remove X and Cornerstone from wp-content/themes and wp-content/plugins and download a fresh version of X from your Apex dashboard: https://theme.co/apex/dashboard

And install it again.

Cornerstone will be automatically installed once you validate your site on Wp Admin > X

Hope it helps!

Thanks Joao
All done but the mejs error is still there on http://systemic-change.com.au/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/assets/dist/js/site/cs-body.js?ver=2.1.7
whats my next step

Hi there,

I could not find the error you mentioned. I accessed your website and added a new page with a section with a video background and it is working ok:

http://systemic-change.com.au/index.php/test-page/

Would you please kindly give us more detailed information about the case and the exact URL which you are experiencing the issue? Also, tell us how you set up the background video.

Thank you.

1st section - introduction with background image and poster in desktop view you will see there is no video playing
please take a look and let us know what the solution is

Hi there,

I checked the case and I am not sure why the Vimeo video is not working. As per the article below:

https://xthemetips.com/full-screen-video/457/

You should have a Vimeo Pro account to be able to get the direct file URL for the video which is necessary to show.

I tested the case by adding a sample Youtube video and it is working.

Thank you.

Hi guys
Here is the story from Vimeo. We have had a Vimeo Plus account the whole time this video has been used as a background element. Here is the script from them on embedding

Embedding background videos

If you are a Plus, PRO, or Business member, you can remove the play/pause button on your embedded background videos. To do this, add the following parameter to the end of the player URL in your embed code:

background=1

Example Embed Code

Adding this parameter will have the following effect:

All player toggles and elements will be turned off (including the play/pause button!)
The video will automatically loop.
The video will be set to autoplay.
The video will be muted.
Please note that using this new parameter will override any embed settings currently associated with the video. However, those embed settings are not changed. If the parameter is removed, the existing embed settings will take affect once more.

Important: The background parameter is not compatible with mobile devices or tablets. In these cases, the player will display a thumbnail instead.

Thanks in advance for your help on this

Hi guys
I have been tracking this scenario through the forum and discovered others have the same issue from Nov 17. Quote from your team member in support

The issue you’re facing is specific to WordPress 4.9, X 5.2.5 and Cornerstone Cornerstone 2.1.7.

Here I have used the classic embed video element http://systemic-change.com.au/index.php/build-block-1/ and it is running as it should. However the same code in the background of the section above doesn’t work, so I suggest that it is an error in your code. Can you please address this and provide me with a direction or supply us with appropriate css and js. thanks in advance

Hi There,

Your code is an embed code that is why it works when you place it on a CLASSIC VIDEO EMBEDDED element. However, the Video Background option needs to have a direct video URL (e.g. http://techslides.com/demos/sample-videos/small.mp4)

A Vimeo URL (e.g https://player.vimeo.com/video/208033561) works as background before but it was not meant to be, and after the WordPress 4.9 update the Vimeo URL as background does not work for real.

We’ve added this to our issue tracker so it can be considered for future development. For now, please use a direct video URL on the video background option.

Thanks,
