Sub Menu quit working after 7.2.1 update

The submenu quit working only in Safari after the 7.2.1 update on X Theme and Cornerstone upgrade to 4.2.1
It worked fine on the previous version. I cleared the cached on my browser and the server and disabled all plugins other than Cornerstone and same problem.

If I inspect the page and uncheck the display:none; on the .desktop .sub-menu UL it shows up where it’s supposed to be so it isn’t behind anything. It’s like the hover event isn’t getting triggered to display the sub-menu.

But it works on Chrome and Firefox.

My Submenu is also deactivated since the last update :frowning:

I have the exact same problem with Safari desktop only as of these updates. Works fine on Chrome and Firefox as well as mobile. Sub menus are not triggered and I have tried two completely different computers so it’s not a local cache issue. https://tamijourban.com

I also have this problem at MKSE.com mobile.

Hello Guys,

Thanks for posting in!

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, Endurance Page Cache, Cache Enabler, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

And please clear your browser cache too. You may use private browsing mode in testing your site to make sure that you are viewing the latest codes from the updates and not the cached version in your browser.

If your site is only not working in a specific browser, make sure that you clear the caches of that browser or test your site using private browsing mode feature of that browser.

Hope this helps.

I had never used Safari to visit this site I always use Chrome and Firefox, tried several different computers too. Same thing on all of them with 7.2.1
Go back to 7.1.2 and it works fine on Safari on all computers, upgrade back to 7.2.1 and it doesn’t work. It’s not a caching issue.

Tried private browsing etc

I listed my site in a private note above, are you able to view that site and hover over and get the dropdown on the Services menu item in Safari desktop?

I just logged into BrowserStack.com and tried my site on Mac OSX Catalina with Safari 13 and the dropdown in the menu doesn’t work there either.

Same problem here, tried everything (change themes, clear caches, delete custom code, deactivate plugins, etc). Unless they can find a fix, I will be forced to go back to a previous version of X. If so, what is the procedure to downgrade X?

Same problem, works in chrome, not in safari

Hi Guys,

This is known issue and now fixed on our unreleased version. It should be available in next update

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Any idea when this version will be available?

Hi Sylvain,

I can’t promise an ETA but it will be release soon with other bug fixes. We are really sorry for the inconvenience this has cause you.

I had this problem initially and found that clearing all caches solved it. Browser cache, site cache & CDN cache. Working fine in Safari now.

Hi Guys,

Please update to X 7.2.2, Cornerstone 4.2.2 (or Pro 3.2.2), there is a sub-menu fix on that release.

Updating Your Themes and Plugins

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Thanks,

works fine now. Thanks for the quick update!

You are most welcome!

Hi, I have the same issue with a bunch of my websites built on X-Theme.

I don’t see X 7.2.2. available for update
I’ve updated to X 7.2.1 already, but no update is available in Wordpress - why is that?

EDIT: I accidentally found a workaround. When I install a new theme, that seems to refresh Wordpress and it recognizes that there’s a new update for X Theme available. (I did try clearing browser cache before, but that didn’t work)

Hi @coracle,

Glad you sorted things out and sorry for the delay, by default WordPress does update check every 12 hours . But you can always force it to check updates by navigating the Dashboard > Updates and clicking the Check Again button.

Cheers!
