Sub-menu indicators

Hi,
My sub-menu indicators (the 2 font awesome angle-double-down f103 icons) on this page https://resus.org.au/guidelines/
appear to be a heavier font weight than on the home page: https://resus.org.au/ Could you please help me correct this?
Thanks, Mark

Hello Mark,

Thanks for asking.

I can confirm that sub-menu indicator does looks different from the home page. It seems that you are using cache plugin, can you please try clearing cache and see how it goes?

Next, test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know the outcome.

Thanks.

Hi,
Clearing the cache did not work.
Can you please tell me the CSS reference for that element and I will try to fix it that way.
Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark,

I have check carefully and it’s not a matter of CSS. The CSS declared on both pages are correct and the same. The difference I found is the Fontawesome version loaded on the page. See this: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cFiq6QFENT.

This page: https://resus.org.au/guidelines/ loads Fontawesome v5
This page: https://resus.org.au/ loads normal fontawesome version
After more research, I found that there’s an update for this icon on Fontawesome v5. See it here: https://fontawesome.com/icons/angle-double-down?style=solid

I will forward this to our developer for investigation. As temporary alternative to avoid this issue, can you try refraining from using fontawesome v5 icons on this page? Check after you change it, check the page if it will not load Fontawesome v5. I am not sure if this acceptable to you at the moment, but this is the best for now to have the same version.

Hope this helps.

Hi Lely,
Thanks for your very helpful reply.
I don’t actually know how to choose which version of FontAwesome gets used.
Could you please point me in the right direction?
Perhaps this issue will be addressed in a future theme update?
Thanks again for your help.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about this, as you can see here the FontAwesome 5 only provides the Solid (thickest) version as Free, the Regular and Light version are part of the FontAwesome 5 PRO which requires a license from FontAwesome to used.

The reason why you still get the regular icon on the homepage, is because of the Revolution Slider (your banner slider) is still providing you the FontAwesome 4.7, but sooner Revolution Slider will update their FontAwesome too and you’ll get the Solid (heavier) icons on homepage as well.

Hope this shed some lights,
Cheers!

Hi Friech,
That makes perfect sense. Thank you for your very helpful reply.
Best regards,
Mark
