Styling MC4WP Signup form - I haz failed. Please help!

I am having a rather unsuccessful attempt at styling MC4WP signup for within my pro theme.

Looking at inspector, it appears the forms and form elements are inheriting styles from multiple sources (x theme, mc, etc).

There is also the css style you must select within the MC4WP (see image below), including inherit styles from child theme, a basic css theme, and then a few styles you can select from. On top of that, I read threads in this forum (such as this) that reference .x-btn and input styling as well. All of these multiple stylings have proven unsolvable for me, so I’m hoping you can help.

Thank you - I’m at my wits end!

Oddly, even when MC4WP style is set to inherit style, it still is displaying an odd red button and form styling.

Hi @mmelton12,

Thanks for reaching out.

I don’t think this is related to default styling of the theme, I checked the code and there is no CSS loaded from your MC4WP plugin. And I also tried search MC4 for stylesheet and there is none, example in this screenshot, 10 are found but not for stylesheet.

I can see that it’s optimized and minified by SG optimizer, perhaps I’m not just seeing it because of that. Would you mind disabling your SG Optimizer temporarily and we’ll check again?

Thanks!

SG Optimizer deactivated. No luck.

Oddly, the red button that is showing up in the MC4WP preview screen seems to be referencing x-stack.min.css, which I presume is x theme…

Please let me know what I should try next. It seems silly that it should be this difficult. Thanks!

Hi @mmelton12,

The MC4WP is not producing its own styling, that is why the email form is inheriting the styling from the theme.

We are not sure though if this is how MC4WP works or its an issue with your optimizer losing the CSS for MC4WP altogether on the minifying process.

Please purge all your caching and minification plugins/features and deactivate it for awhile. Also, please contact the MC4WP support, they might know what is causing this issue.

Thanks,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really helpful. In doing a search through X theme forums, there are a number of users who have had similar issues with styling / CSS of MC4WP- at the very least the support responses provided CSS modifications for them to use.

I went ahead and purchased MC4WP premium version because it has a built in styler. Nevertheless, X Theme is still overriding the submit button’s CSS. I would appreciate if you could provide some help.

Hi @mmelton12,

Sorry, but I think we are not on the same page here, overriding is not the right word, its more like the MC4WP is leveraging the styling coming from the theme, which is fine if that is what you want.

But if you don’t want the theme to interfere with the MC4WP styling, please do not select the Inherit from Pro - Child or Basic option, select one from the Form Themes instead that way the MC4WP will be force to load its own styling.

Hope that shed some lights,
Cheers!
