Sticky Post stopped working

I have PRO with Ethos, and the sticky post (that’s marked off within Wordpress as “Stick to the top of the blog”) is not sticking. Instead, the latest/most recent post created is being used as the featured post, and the sticky post is not showing at all. How do I resolve? The post that I want to be sticky is: https://stephanieklein.com/2021/01/ww-coaching-schedule/

Hi @kleins99,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked your website Home or Blog page and found the sticky post is showing at the top of it. I went ahead and checked by making the post unsticky and found that it was removed from this list. It means the sticky option is working with the specified post.
If that is not the case and you are trying to point out something else, please provide any screenshot marked with the issue or any video that helps us to recognize the problem.

Thanks

I really need help with this because now all my category archive pages all look identical to the main blog/home page, and none of the category pages list their proper content. Please, what am I doing wrong? In the past the default Ethos archive handled all my individual taxonomies/ category archives. I do not want to have to create a unique layout for each and every category I have! I want ONE category archive layout, and for the content of that archive to be the appropriate taxonomy/category content. Is this a looper problem? I watched all the looper videos you offer, and I still don’t know what to do. Please help!

All category archives are identical. Please, what am I doing wrong? I want each category page to display only posts under the selected category.
The sticky post should only appear on the blog home page.

Hi @kleins99,

I have investigated your site and found that the Home pages are shown for all the category pages. It seems that you have set Your Latest Posts as Home Page and assign a customize Layout to all the Archive pages. I would suggest you set Static Home page and Blog to get rid of this issue.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

What would I set the static page to, and what would I set the Posts page to? I don’t understand. I’ve never changed this setting before. I’ve never had to create a BLOG page, and I don’t want it to appear as a page (with comments and a header graphic reading BLOG with breadcrumbs, etc. the way a page would). And how does this solve the problem with all my category pages? How do I get all my category pages to properly display the correct content?

Hello @kleins99,

Since you do not want or need to have a Blog page, your homepage will display the latest posts. As I have checked it, you only have 1 sticky post and it is displaying on the homepage now.

Your Blog layout is assigned as the layout for the blog index. It is also being used for all the archives on your site. When I checked the Layout Builder, you have created a custom layout for the Category archive as well.

The category layout is unassigned at the moment. You will have to assign it to “All Archives” so that you will have a different layout for your category archive pages.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

I didn’t change anything at all, and now it’s working! Someone must have changed something. And for that I thank them! However, one final question, because the sticky post on the main blog page disappears when I move the “ABOUT ME” section above the “BLOG” section on the Blog Archive Layout. I want the “about me” section to be at the top. Please advise.

Hey @kleins99,

You have duplicated the Hero Post to display the About Me. You must disable the Looper Consumer in the Hero Post > Customize element.

And then drag the “About Me” section to the top of all the other sections.

Kindly let us know if this has worked out for you.

The hero post “about me” is at the top because it was dragged into position, but the hero post just below it is not showing my sticky post as the hero. The coaching schedule post should be the featured post below the “about me” section, but instead of the sticky post, I am seeing the zucchini muffin recipe post as featured when it shouldn’t be. Please advise and as always thank you!

Hello @kleins99,

To get around your issue, the Looper Provider and Looper Consumer in your Hero Post “About Me” must be disabled.

Best Regards.

Got it. Thank you, that solved it!

Pleased to be of assistance.

Wait, I spoke too soon!!! Now the HERO “about me” is showing up on my category pages! It should only appear on the main blog front at stephanieklein.com. You should not see “about me” on category pages like this: https://stephanieklein.com/crave/restaurants/

Hello @kleins99,

You will need to add a condition to the Hero Post “About Me” element that it will only appear in your blog index and on the front page.

Best Regards.

Wonderful! That worked. Thank you so much.

You are most welcome.
