Stange permalinks

Hi there, since the new wordpress and new theme updates, evetime I add a new page, it now add “-2” to the url, and I cant figure out why…

My permalinks are set to:

Post name `https://southeastmortuary.com/sample-post/

Hoping you can provide any insight.

Hey Gary,

This is not a theme issue but a WordPress setup one. Make sure that when you create a page, the title does not have a duplicate whether it’s a draft, published, translated or trashed page. Delete the duplicate page permanently or you can edit its slug. Otherwise, WordPress will put a number in the slug because you can’t have 2 pages with the same slug.

If that doesn’t help, please consult with a WordPress developer as this is not something our theme can change.

I understand its not a theme thing, I was just asking if someone might know, you know, one human to another :wink:

There are no duplicate pages, thats why I find it strange…

I will ask elsewhere.

It might be something other than a page which has that slug already. Like a post or other type. Or even a media item.

Thanks man! it was a media item of the same name, strange, never had this before, thanks for the help, that fixed it :slight_smile:

We cannot provide answers beyond our theme’s functionality here in the Support Forum because:

  1. If we answer you, we should answer thousands of customers and WordPress has a lot of parts. It is not feasible for us to do that and it would be unfair for other customers asking for theme support.
  2. If we only answer you alone, it would be unfair for other customers as well.

I hope you understand our position also.
