Staging site

Hi can you please explain the staging site and production site to me. I have purchased the x theme and using it to build a website for a client

Hi there,

The main difference between the staging site and the production site is that the staging site is a copy of your site where do you all the development which will have a test link while the production site is your live site.

Let us know if you have other question.

hi, sorry to bother again, but for the test site (the staging site), do i need to have hosting and domain name

Hi there,

This actually depends on your hosting. Some hosting platform also offers staging site setup. It would be best to get in touch with your hosting company if they offer this service as well.

Another option would be to setup your staging site as a subdomain to your main domain like dev.example.com or staging.example.com.

Kindly go over this link for more information:

Hope this helps.

hi,
good tutorials there =) I’m not an expert but I can follow tutorials

I have created a local WAMP Server to develop my site locally ( http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-install-wordpress-on-your-windows-computer-using-wamp/ ). For that development I need the staging license to install the Extensions etc.

The tutorial you mentioned above for a staging environment suggest to use BitBucket to have a version control system. From BitBucket I push the data to the staging setup (online) and if it works well in the staging online environment I move the data to my live website. Because I have used the staging license for ā€œhttp://localhost/EnjoyBIMā€, I cannot use it for http://staging.EnjoyBIM.de Is that assumption correct? What do you suggest to work with both, the local and the staging and the live environment?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, you have only 2 slots for the licenses. One for the Production and one for the Staging. Now it is your decision if you want to have the local installation as the staging or the online staging one.

I suggest that you validate the one that you actually do the development. I suspect that the local one is the main development one, try to validate that one and push the stuff to online staging for just testing purposes.

Then you can push to live which you will already validate on your live site.

Thank you.
