Speech bubble effect on button

I am trying to get a speech bubble effect on the button based on this tutorial https://codepen.io/mchernin34/pen/ojXvLq but no matter how I try it, I can’t get the ::after class part to display properly on the button. Can you advise what can be done to fix the issue?
