Some pages appear blank on frontend and can't be edited by Cornerstone after latest update

Hi Team,

I don’t often ask for support but here I am today and need your help.

After the last theme update some of the pages on my client’s site are fine and others are blank.

IOW, the shortcodes are all there but when the page is viewed on the front it is blank and can’t be edited in the Cornerstone builder.

As far as I know no one tried to edit the pages in Gutenberg so that is not the problem.

I tried various trouble shooting however none of it worked.

Thanks for sharing the credentials. I went ahead and checked your website it seems that the builder is working fine and frontend is working fine as well. It might be the issue of the browser cache. I would suggest you clear your browser cache and then check it again. It would be best if you check it in the private mode of the browser.

Yes it works on SOME PAGES and doesn’t work on OTHER PAGES.

For example: https://www.lindakrielfitness.co.za/about/

Did you even try any of the other pages at all? It doesn’t seem that way.

With a bit of further investigation you will see that MANY of the other pages and there are MANY, don’t work.

It’s not a browser cache issue. It doesn’t matter how many times I clear the browser cache, certain pages are still bugged or broken.

The other dev that works on the site has the exact same issue in his browser. That’s 2 of us now with the same result in different browsers.

That is why my post is titled SOME PAGES APPEAR BLANK, obviously I wasn’t referring to the HOME PAGE.

Could you and the team please have another look if you don’t mind.

Hi @Cean,

It might be due to the improper up-gradation of the Cornerstone plugin. I would also suggest you follow the below steps and update the Cornerstone once again.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone existing one
  2. After deletion please use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone.

Another common reason behind this issue might be the existing Cornerstone content has been edited in the Block editor.
Regretfully, the content added through the Cornerstone editor is not editable in the Block or Gutenberg editor, and vice-versa. That’s why the edited content is not showing in the Cornerstone.
If you don’t have any backup, I would suggest you create it from scratch. If it is not possible to create it from scratch, I would suggest you restore your backup into the staging site, and export the pages from it and import it to your live site, which may help you to recover the page.

If none of the above helps to resolve your issue, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access in the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

Thank your for your response.

We have tried everything and nothing has worked as far as a ‘quick fix’ is concerned.

Otherwise, we did find a workaround using the template manager and importing pages from another site that was identical but in another language.

Sadly, it’s not just a few pages that are broken, it’s a few HUNDRED pages and much time lost to recreate each page.

I’m really hoping that this kind of thing won’t happen again in future but who knows.

Love the Xtheme but this was a nightmare to deal with.

The other dev who took over the site thinks that X is rubbish now because of this and that is unfortunate. Another customer lost to DIVI. Sad.
