I looked in the forum and found a lot about adding social sharing at the bottom of blog posts, is it possible to add social shares with a counter? I’m currently using share this, but I’d like to get rid of it and was wondering if there was something built into X that would allow me similar functionality?

No, unfortunately, there is no built-in feature to add a social share to the posts. You need to use 3rd party plugins.
