The social media icons as well as several others are appearing as empty boxes. Can you provide some insight on why this is occuring? I’ve read through the various strings on this problem, but I need some simple Apex for dummies step by step instructions. Can someone help.

Thanks for writing in!
I can see that you are using latest version of X Theme and that the icon codes are using version 6 of font awesome. Further checking the website and can see following error message in dev tools:
Mixed Content: The page at 'https://tef-lbi.org/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure font 'http://tef-lbi.org/wp-content/themes/x/framework/fonts/font_awesome/fa-solid-900.woff2'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.
