So many problems! Rev Slider, video, Cornerstone, parallax settings

Ok - so I’m experiencing huge issues with one of my clients websites since the theme update & Cornerstone update - list is as follows:

  • Cornerstone does not load consistently at the back end of my site - sometimes I can see to edit, sometimes I cant
  • YouTube videos no longer display on the front end - either in Rev Slider, via any of the video elements, as a section background or in LayerSlider - this has rendered the site useless as it belongs to a musician!
  • Any headline text with slide in effects does not display - it does display if the text effect is removed (but this changes the site completely)
  • Images disappear on the front end if they have a parallax effect on them - they do display if the effect is removed (but this changes the site completely)
  • There appears to be some issue specifically with video as it will not display even if hosted with other media
  • EDITED Also navigation doesn’t work in mobile & header images aren’t responsive in mobile

I have tried the following:

  • Disabling 3rd party plugins 1 by 1 - no conflicts & no change
  • Cleared the cache both on my browser & site - no change
  • Disabled the ‘must use’ caching plugin in my Wordpress hosting (this will be reinstated automatically as it’s required) - no change
  • Disabled Smush (& reenabled it when it didn’t solve any of the issues)

What is going on? Why has such an awful update been released? My client ran the update & now I have to try & fix it! It’s causing so many issues for so many people!! This isn’t good at all!! Please get these issues fixed asap - it’s costing people lots of money! :weary:

Hi @Gingerfizz_Marketing,

Would you mind letting us know the URL of the affected site(s)? I checked your account and found two sites running more recent versions. I’m going to add a bit more info privately in a secure note to match the URLs to the two sites I’m referring to.

Site 1 - This site has been updated to a newer Cornerstone version, but still has an older version of X. Try updating both X and Cornerstone to the latest version.

Site 2 - There is an javascript coming from Modern Events Calendar. This could be responsibly for other scripts not running, including the code that opens the mobile menu. Try updating MEC to the latest version.

Hi @alexander,
Thank you for your reply.

Site 1 is fine, with no issues - the client has updated Cornerstone but not the theme so I’ll mention that to them on Monday.

Site 2 is the big problem - I disabled Modern Event Calendar & it made no difference - I can’t update it as the update will not run (although it’s intermittently saying there is an update available, currently not showing). I’ve spent almost all day testing things!!

I’ll drop you a secure note with login details shortly so you can take a look, but I’ll take a backup first, just in case I need to roll it back to where it is now - I’ve only just managed to get it operational & error free again, but it’s not got any sliders or video working so my client isn’t pleased!!

Hi @Gingerfizz_Marketing,

Thank you for the credentials, when I check your site most of the error you listed above are now fixed. YouTube, Vimeo, Hosted videos are playing, Revolution Sliders are working (pardon my test page), and images with parallax are showing, mobile menu button working as well.

I’m not sure about “headline text with slide-in effects” though, are you referring to the column’s fade effect? If so, we intentionally remove that, we are planning on adding the feature but in a different way.

I get the issue where the page contents are not showing on Cornerstone, and the plugin Cookiebot seems to be causing that (and the culprit of M.E.Calendar JS error too), please deactivate that plugin for now and contact their support as we can’t provide support for 3rd-party plugins

Cheers!

Hi @friech,

You’re a star!

Thank you so much - everything seems ok now (a few formatting issues on Rev Slider on mobile but I think that’s due to their recent update & it’s an easy fix).

Yes - I meant the column fade in effect (sorry - I was very tired when I wrote the original post!). Ok, will keep an eye out for that coming back as it’s a nice effect to use without having to implement a slider.

I’ve deactivated CookieBot & will have a look to see if there’s an alternative solution we can use. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks again for your help - it’s much appreciated.
Vicky

Hey Vicky,

Regretfully, we have no recommendations for CookieBot alternatives. You might want to post in our Peer to Peer forum to see if other users have experienced using the plugin.

Thanks.
