Slow Uploads to the Media Library

WordPress v4.9.8
Theme.co Pro v2.3.6

Hello support,

When I drop a bulk set of images (5, 30, 50, or more) into the multi-file uploader, I’m experiencing slowness and HTTP Errors.

This happens in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox, in regular-browsing and private/incognito-browsing.

When troubleshooting this problem with my hosting support, we discover that there are two .htaccess files:

  • Active .htaccess 4,017 bytes.
  • Disabled .htaccess 328 bytes.

If we disable the active one, the media upload problem disappears allowing fast uploads of multiple images (30, 50, or more), and eliminating the HTTP Errors.

Unfortunately, disabling this active .htaccess, will also make the PRO Editor stop working.

Not Found

The requested URL /pro/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Do you have any recommendation on how to fix this problem?

Hi There @VGonzaloMartinez

Thanks for writing in! 404 errors denotes that either the required files are missing, corrupted or not accessible due to permission related issues. So that is why, those errors are not in your debug.log file.

I would suggest you to delete your Cornerstone plugin under your plugins section and re-install it by head over to X -> Validation section and wait for few seconds to automatically install the latest version.

Also I would suggest you to make sure that you’re using the latest version of X theme and Cornerstone by checking our changelog here (https://theme.co/changelog/).

Then re-generate your .htaccess file by head over to Settings -> Permalinks section, select the option postname and save the changes.

If you’re using a caching plugin, now you can purge your server cache, clear your browser cache and try testing your Cornerstone builder.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hello!

I think Cory edited this post, did Cory edit the correct post? As this is confusing,

I don’t see Cornerstone in my plugin section, and I have never seen a plugin for Cornerstone.
Additionally, There is no Cornerstone at the X -> Validation either!

  • Settings -> Permalinks section, select the option postname and save the changes, it’s already in Post name, it has been there since the beginning. Did you mean, switch to something else and then back to postname and save to re-generate your .htaccess file?

Hi @VGonzaloMartinez

Sorry I must have edited this post mistakenly. Basically there’s no Cornerstone plugin for Pro theme, so that you can ignore that step.

Yes, you can select a different permalink setting like plain and re-test this issue. Anyway, when you’re saving the changes with same postname, it will re-generate .htaccess file.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!
