Slow Search Function

Hi guys,

The search function of the website: https://travelcrestedbutte.com/ is really slow. If you search for a post/page by title it works okay (the majority of the users wouldn’t know the exact title anyway), but if you search for random words, it takes “forever”. The search function was working really well before the website was redesigned with Theme X (believe the previous theme was Genesis), the content is pretty much the same as it was before the redesign.

Any ideas on how to improve the search function?

Thanks for writing in! By default, we do not alter WordPress search functionality. We always rely on the WordPress standards and X is just a theme which provides how to display the layout and items on the page. Search functionality in WordPress happened behind the scene. There maybe a lot of factors which affects the search. It could be the server, volume of content and a lot more. I would recommend that you check out these links to enhance your search:

Appreciate the info, it’s very useful!

One more thing about the search, which I just came across. When you go to search on a mobile device the distorts the layout of the page (please refer to screenshot). Any idea what is causing that and a way to fix it?

Hi Petar,

To fix it, you can try adding this in X > Launch > Options > CSS

@media ( max-width: 979px ) {
      .x-container.main:before {
            display: none !important;
      }
}

Thank you! That did the trick!

By the way, starting using the Better Search plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-search/, which improved the search functionality a lot. (just an update on the first issue)
