Slider short code showing, but not slider

I had been using MetaSlider then it stopped working, not sure if it was after migration from .com to .org or after the an update in wordpress and X. The funny thing is it show’s perfectly in the Admin view but not from the outside. I have tried LayerSlider and am now using RevolutionSlider. The other weird thing that on the “Calendar” page it only shows the short code but on a button on my “About” page it perfect! I have tried different devices and browsers and the same happens. It is only visible in from the inside as an admin. I’ve had 3 knowledgeable people look at it and they can’t figure it out either

Hi,

Do you have any cache plugin installed?

Try to clear your plugin cache and check again.

If that doesn’t help please provide wordpress admin login in Secure Note(key icon)

Thanks

I’ve cleared many times

Hi there,

I was going to check your site but Rev Slider seems to be removed from the plugins page and I am getting this message:

The plugin revslider/revslider.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

In case you are still trying to get it sorted, kindly try to install the latest version of Rev Slider then clear your cache and recheck the page again.

Let us know how it goes.

there are a couple of plugins that have been inactivated since this AM. I re Activated it and cleared the cache still all is the same working on the page with the button but not the page (main page “calendar”) that is referred to in the button. I don’t know what you mean about installing the slider again or re-Activating it. I didn’t have revslider before all this happened I had metaslider then tried layer slider which had the same problem as the revslider.

Hi There,

Sorry, but we’re a bit confused about your case because you’re pointing to two different site installation. Maybe the one with /w/ sub-directory is your developmental site, so that is one of your issues, your live site buttons are still pointing on the dev site. You can update those buttons to correct it.

Now regarding the Revolution Slider shortcode issue:

That is a Revolution Slider shortcode, that is happening because Revolution Slider is not installed (uninstalled) on your site.

Please re-install the Revolution Slider; to do this navigate to X > Validation > Extensions and look for Slider Revolution and install it.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

okay installed and active revslider. Still the same http://theneworleanschurch.org/events-4/ show’s the shortcode not the slider

I even did another page without cornerstone and it still only shows the short code
http://theneworleanschurch.org/backup-calendar/

Hi There,

I did check your Plugins panel (on live site) and I don’t see the Slider Revolution in there.

So this leads me to think that for some reason, your live site is removing the Slider Revolution? Would you mind providing us FTP credentials and let’s see if we can find something in the error log.

I enabled the slider on your dev site, and that made the slider works (http://theneworleanschurch.org/w/backup-calendar/)

And notice your shortcode, it has a pretty quotes

[rev_slider alias=”april1″]

It should be:
[rev_slider alias="april1"]

Cheers!

yay kinda! I see the layers but not the images. Im not sure what the difference between a dev site and a live site. I have done the whole thing in the dev site. Though on the live site my pictures are in the library but they seem to be buffering. I’ve built everything through the dev side. So, with the revslide I can only do live?

Hi There,

You have a bigger issue on your live site, a number of your images there does not exist

This has something to do with how you migrated the site. To resolve this, you can copy the /wp-content/uploads/ folder of your dev site to live site.

Most commonly the dev site is used as the testing site, for example, you’re going to use a new plugin but you feel uneasy installing it as it might cause an issue on your site. So what a webmaster do is test the plugin first in a dev site, this way even if the plugin caused an issue the live site goes on. Same thing for updating a Theme, Plugins, or the WordPress itself. Do it on the dev site first if your live site is very critical on your business and needs to have no downtime.

I believe this resolves your issue with the Slider Revolution shortcode, please create a new thread for a different issue so we won’t be getting drift-off by a mix of topic.

Hope this shed some lights,
Cheers!

thanks!! You all have been awesome!

You are most welcome.
