Slider Revolution needs updating to latest version

Hi Pro,

So on our website (listed in private notes with login) - we are unable to edit slider revolution due to an announcement from theme punch that it could break our sites after updating Wordpress.

Desperately need to get in to this, as Safari only is showing us a glimpse of the text elements on our main slider for a split second then disappearing. In ALL other browsers it works fine including safari mobile.

We’ve tried:
Debug via WP-CONFIG
Deactivating plugins
Flushing caches
Deactivating cloudflare
We didn’t reset .htaccess because site is recently optimised to max

Ruled out everything that this could be except a setting from within slider rev that we can’t touch because you’ve bundled an incompatible to the latest WP version :frowning:

I’ll leave details in the private notes incase you know how to fix the slide text issue in Safari. If you’d like to see how it’s supposed to work i.e in-out animations then simply visit the page on Chrome or FF.

Many thanks

J

Hello @j300bac

Thanks for writing to us.

To fix the Revolution Slider plugin issue, you need to updates. You can update the Revolution Slider plugins. We just release the Revolution Slider 6.2.18.
Latest supported versions

Thank you

I can’t see the update yet … 5:35 PM Paris

Nope - I’ve checked for updates and none have been released yet?

Hi @j300bac,

Please deactivate and delete the existing plugin from Plugins page and re-install it from X/Pro > Validation.
You will get the updated version of all the plugins in this way.

NOTE: Please remember to take a backup of sliders and other data before deleting the existing plugins. Sometimes updates will cause data loss.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Not a recommended way to update an extension but I have now done this.

I’m afraid that it didn’t solve the issue though :frowning: (see top of thread)

So aside from the above precautions taken and measurements the slider still shows the text elements for a split second which isn’t what it should like when live. If you view this in Chrome or FireFox and compare timing to Safari and you will see that the words appear for a few seconds before fading out.

The sentence “NEW INCREASED INLET DIAMETER” even shows twice during the slide which it shouldn’t.

So I have tried triggering “simplify on IOS” to no avail.
JS to Body - didn’t work
and lastly jQuery No conflict Mode which also didn’t work.

I’ve built over 150 different sliders with Rev Slider including some full websites using it so I’m fairly familiar but this I can’t explain.

If you could take another look for me to check the existing issue I would really appreciate it

Many thanks
J

Hello @j300bac,

This issue is because of the recent conflict between the Revolution Slider and WordPress 5.5. Our developers are currently testing the latest release for any incompatibility and conflicts to the theme. Once they are done, Rev Slider 6.2.19 will be available through the Automatic Updates anytime soon. Watch out for it.

Please bear with us.

I have also update my site to WP 5.5 and slider revolution stop working, would like to know the solution to this as well.

Hey @LucyKeile,

Our developers are still doing compatibility and conflict testing at the moment. It will be available anytime soon.

Please watch for the automatic updates.

Hi Rue Nel,

Thank you for responding.

I’m sure it is a compatibility issue but nonetheless it is not convenient to have such a conflict pushed on a live brands website before testing. This came out of nowhere and it only affects safari desktop.

Could someone patch this urgently for us? I’m a high volume licence holder and I’m only asking for assistance on one website that is showing this issue. We iron out many issues with Pro in house from our side but we have to keep things fair where Pro are in charge of third party extensions and right now this incident is making an entire brand (And my own)look a little bad… (to safari desktop users)

I appreciate your support moving forward

J

Hi @j300bac,

Unfortunately, there is no way we can patch this quickly especially it’s 3rd party related in which we don’t develop, and knowing that we don’t know exactly what’s causing this. Hopefully, the fix is available in the next few hours.

The theme and plugins regardless of developer adhere to the standard of currently released WordPress, and not to the future standard of the upcoming WordPress versions, which is why no one is able to predict conflict and incompatibilities. The developers could only start an investigation once the conflict is present. This is why we highly recommend any users not to update WordPress core, or any theme/plugins without testing it on staging. Updating core is equivalent to site’s maintenance, and this is why some Managed WordPress hosting disables automatic updates for WordPress core, this is to allow them to test it first.

What we can recommend while the developers are fixing this is to restore the site back to when it’s still working (older WordPress).

Thanks!
