When I try to update it through the theme my whole site crashes. I am able to restore it through backup, but its really frustrating. I’ve done it two times, just to be sure:)
I was thinking to delete the Slider Revolution Plugin though FTP, and then reinstall it thought the theme, will I loose all my already build sliders? Is there a way to prevent it?

No, you should not loose the data. You can just rename the revslider folder via FTP. It will then deactivate this plugin. Go to Plugins page on the admin and then activate it. You can then proceed to installing the updated version via this Plugins page. After this installation, you have 2 version. Updated and the older one. Try to activate the latest version. Once you are sure you don’t have issue on the updated version of revslider, you may then proceed deleting the old one. This process will ensure you have a backup in case you got issues on installing the updated version.
