Slider Revolution Intermittently Not Appearing

I will include a private note with access to view the page, but essentially our slider sometimes loads and other times does not. I cannot figure out for the life of me why this is the case. I first noticed this when I loaded the page, switched to another tab, and then came back after the tab was loaded. This seems to be the easiest way to replicate the issue:

  1. Load the website (URL will be in private note)
  2. Quickly load a new blank tab and activate it
  3. Once the original tab has been loaded, switch back to it.
  4. You’ll notice the slider is gone.

I’ve tried tons of different hacks, such as forcing a refresh of the revslider when activating the tab, etc. but nothing seems to work. Also, it doesn’t seem to happen all the time, nor does it seem to happen consistently, which makes it hard to figure out what is causing this.

Hello @sfreeman,

Thanks for writing to us.

I followed the steps you mentioned but I am not able to replicate the issue on my end. I have tested the site on the Google Chrome version 125.0.6422.142 and it seems that the slider and Essential grid are working fine on my end.

Hope it helps
Thanks

@prakash_s — very interesting. I’m able to replicate it by simply refreshing the page over and over. Roughly 50% of the time the slider does not show up. I will record a video and include it in a private note.

Also, I forgot to mention, we are on the same version of Chrome as well.

Hi Scott,

I have checked the Global Settings of Revolution Slider and it seems that the problem is with the Defer JavaScript Loading. It is set to On, I set it to Off and now the issue is not appearing anymore.

If you still found the same issue, I would suggest you check once by clearing all types of cache including the System Cache from Cornerstone > Settings > System > Clear System Cache and check in the incognito/private mode of the browser.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

@tristup - thank you, but unfortunately it is still happening. I’ve cleared the cache at the server level (via our host’s settings), at the website level, also through my browser, and through force-clearing the cache via a “Web Developer” Chrome extension.

And… I confirmed with someone else outside of my city/ISP to confirm it’s not even cached on that level.

I’ll give it a day or two to see if it truly isn’t cached (since ISPs rarely cache past 48 hours (esp. if the website has changed or its cache has been cleared/reset remotely).

I will say… it seems to work 100% fine in Firefox and Edge, so it’s very possible it’s still cached somewhere…

I’ll keep you posted, thanks!

You are most welcome, Scott.

@ruenel, @tristup, @prakash_s just a head’s up this actually is still not working. I’m currently on a call with someone who tested it and it’s not appearing. Could something else be affecting it?

@ruenel, @tristup, @prakash_s — great news! It seems to be working fine now.

For anyone else who stumbles upon this and has issues, the solution was to make sure the “Frontend Engine” is “SR7”… and to test your slider, you can just add ?srengine=7 to the URL where your slider lives, and it will allow you to preview the “future-proof” engine.

That is what it looks like on the main Slider Revolution page once you’ve updated the Frontend Engine from SR6 to SR7 (looks very similar before updating, too).

Hope this helps! Thanks again Themeco staff for doing your best as always, and hope this helps you solve any questions that come down the queue.

You are most welcome, Scott.
