Slider Revolution home page video sometimes doesn't auto play?

Sometimes when I go to the site the home page slider revolution video will just sit there on the cover image and nothing happens. It wont play or anything. If I refresh the page then usually it will work.

Any ideas what could cause this?

I have all 2 video types added in:
.mp4 version is 2.6MB
.webm 5MB

Are they too big?

I think they may have been way too big. I compressed the MP4 to be 700kb.
Do I need the webm version? Even after compressing its huge at 4MB.

Hello @crobley,

Thanks for asking and sorry for the issues you are facing with Revolution Slider.

Well, the file is not an issue. Please try increasing your PHP Memory limit. You can do this by editing your wp-config.php file which can be located under the root of your WordPress installation.

Add the following lines into that file.

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );

You can add it before the line
/*That's all, stop editing! Happy Blogging. */

If that does not work, please share website URL for is to take a closer look as you have multiple licences and url attached in your licence manager page.

Thanks.

Thanks Prasant!
I added in the code so we’ll see! Its hard to know absolutely for sure at this point since its kinda sporadic when it happens.

Thanks for the help!

Sure, let us know in case problem with Revolution Slider arises again.

Thanks.

Sorry to bug you again. It looks like its still doing it after all?
I’ll post my website and login info:

Hi again,

Thank you for the details. I checked your site and I see your site’s content is being served by the cache. Please clear all cache and disable cache plugin temporarily and see if this resolves the issue.

Let us know how this goes!

Ok cleared the cache and disabled it. Still doesn’t seem to want to auto play.

Hey There,

I logged in again and cleared your Autoptimize cache. I also cleared my browser cache and test your site again. After loading the page, the video just simply autoplays on my end.

Please clear your browser cache or use private browsing mode (Incognito mode) and test your site again.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks so much for the help! Sorry for the late reply. By chance have you tried it out in Chrome? It seems to still stall using that browser.

Hello @crobley,

Thanks for updating the thread.

I am using Chrome on Mac and on my end Rev Slider is working fine. Please see screencast. https://cloudup.com/cP_sFUjqRaS

May be you can try clearing cache and see how it goes.

Thanks.

Wow thanks so much for sending the screencast!
OK So this is what I was talking about. The animation doesn’t play on your screencast. It changes and shows the first frame of the animation:

When it should be playing this video:

Hello @crobley,

Thanks for updating the thread.

I just re-saved the video source and then cleared Autoptimize cache and Rev Slider now seems to be working fine as you have shared the video in previous reply. Please see screencast. https://cloudup.com/cEmBrd4ypub
