Slider revolution audio issue on mobile and tablet

Dear Support,

A page I’m building has two revolution sliders, I am having an issue on the first one.

I am having issues with getting the audio of my revolution slider on mobile and tablet. (audio works well on desktop and laptops)

The slider is supposed to play a youtube video with sound after clicking.

I understand that autoplay is not allowed with sound, that’s why I added the clicking condition on the slider.

Here is the page to see it: (it is the top slider that is having the issue)

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi @EMTEX,

I could not find if you used the video as a background in the Revolution Slider or as a layer. I checked the page you created with Desktop Chrome on my Macbook Pro and there I also hear no audio. So it is not a mobile-only thing.

If you used the Video as a background you will not be able to use audio at all and it is mentioned at the very top of the background video documentation on Revolution Slider website:

https://www.themepunch.com/slider-revolution/slide-background/#video

You need to embed the video using a Video Layer following the steps mentioned below:

https://www.themepunch.com/slider-revolution/layer-content/#video-audio

Finally, it is also helpful to check the Video/Audio settings description here:

https://www.themepunch.com/slider-revolution/layer-video-audio-settings/

kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case if you still have problems.

Thank you.

Dear support.

thanks for getting back to me. the youtube video was added as a layer. I believe I did all the steps provided in the links.

Also a weird thing I’m experiencing is each time I modify something on the slider I need to go back to the content editor and save again or else it disappears. on the front end. Also I think it dissipated on it’s own a couple of times.

You are right I tested on a laptop and there is no sound as well. It used to work on laptops last week. Now only on desktop it seems.

Hi @EMTEX,

Unfortunately, the URL that you gave me to access the WordPress Dashboard does not work and just goes to the homepage without giving me a section to add the username/password.

I checked the front end of the website and the test page that you created and checked the browser console and it shows a Javascript error. Here is how the internet suggests fixing:

So try to add https or http and test the result. If you still have problems kindly make sure that you give us correct information on how to access your Wordpress dashboard.

Thank you.

Dear Christopher.

Thanks for getting back to me.

That’s weird, the login link works here.
That might be from my firewall. I will temporarily deactivated it. Please also try to go on the website menu and choose “client private access”

Re Javascript error: I can’t change the youtube link to https as it is managed by revolution slider. I can only input the youtube ID on revolution slider and not the entire URL. Would there be a workaround?

Thanks

Hey @EMTEX.

The login page could only be accessed from the menu. Though the credentials you’ve given are correct, there’s still a verification needed. Please disable the verification feature as we cannot provide an email for account creation.

Thanks.

Hi Christian, sorry about that, this is probably due to a low captcha score. I disabled captcha filtering, please let me know if you manage to get in. Thank you.

Hey @EMTEX,

I was able to log in. The audio will play only when you enable the Control. I believe this has something to do with Youtube or browser rules for user experience. There is no workaround for this case.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Christian, with control enabled the audio now plays on my desktop and laptop but still doesn’t on tablet and mobile. How could I make it work?

Dear Christian, even though controls option is enabled, I get no audio on most laptops.
No audio on all smartphones and tablets too.
Please let me know how I could fix the issue.
Thank you.

Hey @EMTEX,

Please provide the Operating System and browser name and version of the laptop and tablets you’re testing because the slider’s audio is working on my end.

Try clearing the browser’s cache in the laptops, by the way.

Thanks.

Hi Christian thanks for your message.

After investigating audio can work on all devices, it’s just the video starts muted on some devices and need to find the control and un-mute the player.

On windows 10, android 9, edge, firefox, brave & chrome (latest versions) audio works, just starts muted. randomly while refreshing it would sometimes start unmuted on my tablet.

(I always clear browser cache when testing and before refreshing)

The mute at start option is on off. How could I have the video start unmuted on all devices?

Thanks!

Temporary solution I found is use an HTML 5 video instead of youtube. Seems to work.

But I’d really prefer using a youtube video if there is a possibility to always play unmuted.

Please let me know. thanks!

Hi @EMTEX,

I have done some checking and it is actually Youtube enforcing the mute feature for autoplayed videos on mobile.

Here are some references:

Hope this helps.

Well noted. I’ll stick with self-hosted video then. Thank you for your support.

You’re welcome!
