Slider revolution 7 support

I’m confused with respect to the SR7 update. The update has resulted in most sliders not working on my website. I have the impression that maybe now I need a licence for the x-theme slider revolution content to work. Is that correct or is there a way to update the x theme so the sliders will work again. I don’t think going back to SR6 is a long term fix either. What is the long term solution for x-theme - will you work something out with SR to allow multiple sliders with the theme?

In my case, rolling back to SR6 worked for a few days, but it looks like version 7 updated automatically across all the sites I had downgraded.

There’s now an updated message from the developer (Theme Punch) stating:
“You have more than 3 sliders and they will all remain functional. A license will need to be purchased for any additional slider.”

That’s a big relief, as I had to manually review all the sites that broke during the update.

Could the Themeco team please confirm the following:

  • All existing sliders will remain functional under the Slider Revolution X/Pro bundle
  • Creating any new sliders will require purchasing a license

Thanks.

Hey @Isabelle_808,

We are currently investigating this.

Please stay tuned.

Existing sliders (20) in my website were not functional with upgrade to RS7. I reverted to RS6 and they are working for now. I have only single X-theme licence. Do I need to upgrade to Pro to keep the sliders or should the existing sliders continue to work?

Hey @abehouse,

Without a Revolution Slider license, both the Pro and X themes are limited to a maximum of three modules under their current policy. Because their plugin is bundled with our theme, our developers are in contact with them to resolve the issue.

Please bear with us.

Ok. Please let me know if the issue get’s fixed or what my options will be to keep the existing sliders. Thanks very much for looking into this.

You’re welcome.

A few days ago, Slider Revolution/Theme Punch had a pop-up on launch announcing the free/bundled version allowed a maximum of three sliders, but that existing sliders would continue to work. That was true for a while, but their latest update broke all sliders beyond the first three. The sliders still appear in the list, but most slides were blank and there was no option to add, edit, or repair them.

I’m dealing with a lot of issues lately, and for now I’ve downgraded to an older version, again. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem like a permanent solution because it keeps updating on its own.

I’m going to look into using the Cornerstone slider instead. I could ask clients to upgrade, but I won’t, as forcing customers into paid upgrades without proper notice is not acceptable. All the sites I manage use one or more Revolution Sliders, and this change has created a huge amount of unnecessary work.

I understand this is not Themeco’s fault, their support has always been great. Theme Punch should re-think their strategies, this is fastest way to make users really angry.

Hey Isabelle,

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this and I completely understand how frustrating it is when an update changes expected behavior and creates urgent work across client sites.

You’re right that this isn’t directly controlled by us, Themeco, but I understand how heavily it affects your workflow.

For now, disabling automatic updates for Slider Revolution may help keep the downgraded version stable while you plan a longer-term fix. Moving future sliders to Cornerstone is a great option for more control and fewer third-party surprises.

Thanks for explaining the impact so clearly. Your frustration is completely valid, and we’ve communicated this to the Theme Punch team.
