Slider not active

Hi, after 2 years of no maintenance I updated everything. After a php-update everything works fine again but for Revolution Slider. It says that is not active. So, I tried installing it again from the X Extensions but again an error ocurred: 504 gateway timeout (nginx).

Can you help me please?

Richard

Hi Richard,

There might be some different reasons behind your issue, I would like to suggest troubleshoot the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Theme Update related issue
3.Child Theme Related issue ** if you have activated the child theme.
4.CSS/JS Customization
5.Increasing PHP Memory Limit

Thx Peter,

I tried all your suggestions but without succes.
When installing slider revolution it says “target folder already exists”. So, I think I only have to remove the target folder but how can one find that?

Richard

Hi Richard,

Yes, you’re right, there is already an existing revslider folder inside\wp-content\plugins\ directory, that is why WordPress cant reinstall a new version.

To resolve this, you need to login to your site server via FTP or cPanel’s File Manager. If these are not available with your current Hosting plan, there is a plugin named WP File Manager that you can install on your site and use as File Manager. Navigate to \wp-content\plugins\ directory and delete the busted revslider folder. Then you can install a clean copy of Rev Slider on the X > Validation area.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Thx. It works. Installed WP File Manager and removed Revolution Slider folder.
Installing the new one from X Validation however gave the same INGX time out error. Installing and Activating from Plugins did the job!

Thx again.
Richard

Hi Richard,

That INGX time-out error probably a backend connection related issue. Glad things sorted out now with Rev Slider.

Cheers,
