I have never been able to get the built-in slider to work properly on Pro Theme websites. Does anyone have a clue why? Is there a setting that needs to be enabled?
Go to www.galenaillinois.com to see what I mean - previous, next, and the buttons below the carousel do nothing.

That’s what I need to know - what settings would you check? I insert the slider, create the slides, and set it to automatic. It scrolls just fine, but the navigation and pagination do not work on any site ever. I have tried this on many sites over the years, only to give up and use plugins. What do I need to do to use the built-in sliders?

Because of the Autoplay and that there is no delay, the pagination and the navigation may not function. Please temporarily disable the Autoplay so we can test both the navigation and the pagination. If wouldn’t mind, we can also investigate your site thoroughly by checking the settings and other conflicts.

Thank you - the answer is: you can’t use “Marquee” with pagination or navigation. Unfortunate, but now I know.
