SiteGround Optimizer common issues - fixed (for now)

There are a lot of SiteGround Optimizer (SG Optimizer) plugin and X Pro theme conflict issues. Some have been answered and others have not.
Here are my 3 main fixes:

  1. Background images not displaying. This is caused by SG Optimizer’s Lazy Load Media. One solution is to turn this off, however, you then lose all the benefits of lazy loading (WordPress can now also do Lazy loading itself, but SG Optimizer says it does a better job…). Another option may be to add the image CSS class(es) to SG Optimizer’s “Exclude from Lazy Load”, however, I couldn’t get this to work.
FIX: In the X Pro page editor, set the background Layer Type to “<img/> Element”, not “Background Image”.

  2. X Pro page editor doesn’t load.
FIX: In SG Optimizer’s Front End Optimisation, turn off “Minify JavaScript Files”. It may also be useful to turn off “Minify CSS files” and “Combine CSS Files” as I think X Pro already does this.

  3. Website crashes.
FIX: In SG Optimizer’s Supercacher Settings, turn off “Memcached

Hope that helps.

Hi @Innovatek,

Thank you for the pieces of information, I’ll add this report to our issue tracker. But please note that we cant guarantee a quick fix for this as this involves the 3rd party features.

Issue #2 is the most common one and it has been added to our issue tracker. There is an option to exclude the theme JS (https://i.imgur.com/Klh3Pho.png) but for some reason, there is one JS file on the theme that it cant find so it cant be added to exclusions.

Cheers,

The background image is a new one that took me a long time to fix today. I have used background images before without an issue. It will be a major issue for some. Thankfully the above solution worked.
The Memcached option may have been fixed with updates to both X Pro and SG Optimizer since I first encountered it. I don’t want to test it again as it completely crashed my site.

Hi @Innovatek,

My colleague has already reported this issue to our issue tracker with all the details you mentioned. Our development team will check and investigate those further.

Thanks

SG Optimizer has updated their plugin and fixed the background image issue - would have saved me hours if they did it yesterday…

Thanks for that info.
