Site very slow after moving to a new server

Hello, I have made a beautiful site for a client, and almost ready to “go live”. But I have run into a problem: After moving the site from my own little test server to a super-awesome business-level server, the site is running very slowly. I have been assured this is not an issue with the server.

Can you see anything that may be causing the problem, since I moved the site? I can tell you I had a very clean move (via FTP) and didn’t run into any errors. But I’m hoping you can help me find what may be causing the site to slow down so horribly.

Thank you!

Hey @capodanno,

This isn’t an issue with the theme either because if it is, it would be slow starting from your dev site.

The only thing that I noticed loading slow on my end are images. You will need to optimize them and use the right image size of the container. For example, if you have a 3 column setup and the sum of the column is 1000px, you should use around 330px image per column.

You should also take into account all factors mentioned in our performance article here: https://theme.co/docs/how-to-improve-site-performance

Also, a business-level server doesn’t mean it’s fast. I could not explain this further because this is outside the area of theme support. What I’d recommend is you hire a website optimization expert. What they will usually do is audit your site and check the performance of your server and other stuff.

Hope that leads you to the right direction.
