My site looks fine on a tablet or PC, but when viewed on a mobile the pictures instead of being stacked side by side are shown one of top of each other.

Sorry for the confusion. What you’re seeing the normal. The columns will stack staring from 767px screen width. What do you want to achieve in this view? What do you mean by realistic? Can you show us your design?
