Site loading really slowly

Since we’ve launched, our site is loading really, really slowly, not only the front end but the back end. The host (inMotion) made some php.ini and redirect tweaks, but it’s still very slow. From the Network specs, waits of 4-8 seconds for each page, including the back end and Cornerstone pages. It looks like the main delay is the page itself (graphics are relatively fast), but also jQuery.min.js and admin-ajax.php seem to also be taking a lot of time to load.

What can we do to speed this up? The host assures me it’s not them… thanks!

Hello Matt,

Thanks for writing in!

Please check this out first: https://tools.pingdom.com/#61f4298aa7000000

At least 60% of the resources are coming from the Images. Upon inspection of your homepage, I am seeing this:

The first image is 2048x1362 pixels,
The second one is 1200x1030 pixels,
And the last one is 1000x718 pixels.

Yet, in your design, you only have space for 270x200 pixels. We highly recommend that you resize your image to at least 540x400 pixels to reduce the image sizes. This will also reduce the load time of the page.

Best Regards.

Thanks for this - I’ll pursue those leads.

But that wouldn’t explain why the Admin is so slow, would it? Even the wp-login, but especially Cornerstone.

Checking back in this - any answers?

Hey Matt,

There are a lot of factors why the backend load so slow, it could be a conflict with the plugins or a plugin making a request that makes the admin side to load slow. You need to optimize your website speed, regretfully, we can’t provide any support regarding performance optimization because it is outside the scope of our theme support. You may seek 3rd party developers to help you with your issue or you can avail of Boost which can help you with performance issues.

You may also check our performance documentation.

Thank you for understanding.
