Site Banner Loading Issue

Hello,
I just ran my website through ‘PageSpeed Insights’ to test the loading speed of my website. Amongst the many issues that need to be fixed to improve my site speed one is regarding the site banner image size.
I uploading a size banner image size 800X200 px (32kb), not sure why this would affect the speed at all. I thought I would check here if the ethos theme I am using has other recommended size dimensions for a site banner?
