Single Page Menu Anchor Scroll

Hey guys,

I am wanting to know how I can use anchor scrolls on a single page website without it adding to the URL.
Currently I have it setup with an ID on the section, and then in the Menu Settings in WordPress I have the URL “www.domain.com/#sectionid” as a Custom Link for the menu item.

The functionality works, but I would like it so clicking off my menu scrolls to the section without adding an ID/slug to the end of the URL.

What is the best way to achieve this?

That is actually the default behavior of one page navigation before (without adding #ID to the URL.), but a lot of user request to have it for SEO purposes.
