Sidebar not displaying on new pages

I just updated to the latest version of Pro and I’m experiencing several odd behaviors. One problem is that the sidebar does not appear on newly created pages (or on the home page which is not new). The sidebar does appear on all the other pages. These pages where the sidebar is working all use the Default Template. But that is not working on my new test page. I have also tried changing to the Layout – Content Left, Sidebar Right template but that doesn’t work either.

Another problem is that the Pro options are no longer shown in the menu bar at the top of the page. I used to be able to hover over Pro and then choose Edit Page from the dropdown menu. But the Pro menu is now gone.

Cornerstone is now displayed in the top menu but it doesn’t have the same options.

I have tried deactivating all my plugins but it doesn’t help.

Pro version 5.0.1

Windows 10 Pro x64 OS Build: 19043.1165

This is an example of a newly created page which has the sidebar missing:

Thanks @WPDave,

I’ve checked your URL and I see what you mean. It looks like the sidebar structural markup is there, but no widgets are outputting into it. I’ve tried to reproduce this in a test site but haven’t been able to trigger the issue. Would you mind letting me login to take a closer look at what could be different on your site? If this is ok you can add login details in a secure note. Thank you!

Hi @alexander thanks for the quick reply. I have attached a Secure Note to my previous post above. Does that give you what you need?

Hello @WPDave,

The New Home page is empty.

And the main sidebar does not have any widgets as well:

I have created a test page with content and a custom sidebar where I have assigned some widgets in it. Kindly check the link in the secure note below.

Thanks.

@ruenel I’m a little confused. My home page does indeed have content:
https://alisonigueldemocraticclub.com/

And your test page does have content—but not Pro/Cornerstone content:
TestPageSnip
The screenshot above is in the WP Block Editor. If I Edit with Pro I see an empty page:
ProSnip

Meanwhile, all of the other pages have the sidebar as usual. The home page is supposed to have that same sidebar. It is using the Default Template just like the others.

Finally, there’s something broken on the Get Involved page:
https://alisonigueldemocraticclub.com/get-involved/
The footer has ended up on the right side of the page and the sidebar is pushed way down the page.

Hi @WPDave,

Regarding the Get Involved page, you had extra closing </div> which was breaking the entire layout. I went ahead and fixed it for you.

Runel was referring to your new home page (https://alisonigueldemocraticclub.com/newhome/) which indeed doesn’t have any content, with that the Main Sidebar didn’t have any content too. I went ahead and added a calendar widget and now it shows on your new home page.

You can go to Appearance > Widgets > Main Sidebar and add widgets as you need.

Hope this helps!

Oh, thanks for catching that div error. Apparently, it wasn’t causing a problem before the update but then that changed with the update.

Hi @WPDave,

I’m sorry that it just started happening after the update. I’ve seen this happen from time to time where a syntax error is somehow forgiven by the combinations of systems (WordPress, Cornerstone, etc.) and then is exposed at a later time. I can’t really say why it was even allowing things to work previously.

I wanted to chime in to recommend updating to the latest point release as well. It corrected an issue with classic elements not being displayed which might be related to the original issue reported here.
