Sidebar menu is overriding the default menu with another one

Hi there!

I have a default menu set for my site that is somehow being overridden now by another random sidebar menu. I’ve done the things that I know to do to try and fix it but it’s not updating, even though the proper settings are in place. Would you be able to help?

Thanks,
Julianne

Hi Julianne,

Thank you for reaching out to us. You probably have created a custom sidebar via Appearance > Sidebars and assigned it to the page in question which overrides the default sidebar. To fix this, navigate to Appearance > Sidebars and unassign the sidebar from the pages where you see the default sidebar is being overridden.

Let us know how this goes!

Hi Nabeel,

I actually did create a sidebar for that page but it is being overridden by the other sidebar, which itself was only set up for use on one page and is not the default sidebar. As I said, I’ve done the things that I know to do to try and fix this but those solutions aren’t working. It’s as if that sidebar has become the new default. If I add a new page, that is the sidebar that is defaulting. I have tried deleting that sidebar and replacing it with a duplicate one but then it doesn’t work at all on either page. In fact, the duplicate won’t show the correct items, even though they are set up correctly in the sidebar widget. That goes for any new sidebars and sidebar widgets that I’ve created. Something is definitely wrong here.

Hi Julianne,

The page URL you share above doesn’t have sidebar in it. I can see you have a child theme. Can you check if you have a customization that might result to that issue. If you can confirm no, we need to check your setup directly. Please make sure we can access and then share credentials inside a secure note. Also add which menu should be on that page inside the secure note.
