I have setup several custom sidebars using the Pro Manage Sidebars feature found under Appearance -> Sidebars. I have set it to appear for specific pages (and their child pages) and it is still appearing outside of the set pages. I know this is a older feature, but is there anywhere else I should check to see why the widgets in this sidebar are appearing outside of the allowed pages? Also, I notice the list of pages in the manage sidebar settings is showing deleted pages. Is there a way to force that to match the current active pages?
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for reaching out.
It is not very clear what the reason behind your problem is, and we need to investigate it through the WordPress admin dashboard.

Hello Kevin,
Please be aware that any sidebar created in Appearance > Sidebars assigned to specific pages will only display if you are using the default page template or when you use a Widget Area on a page displaying the created Sidebar.
When I inspected the AGING AND ADULT SERVICES page, it is using the Blank - No Container | Header, Footer page template and there is no Widget area used on the page.
If you insert a Widget Area element, it should be like this on the page preview
Hope this helps.
Good to know about the page template required for display.
These widget sidebars are only intended for use with non-cornerstone pages. The site uses the content/sidebar global content setting in the theme options. And the pages use the content/sidebar right templates. The site had used a dynamic widget plugin originally which was converted over to the sidebar feature in Pro.
When I changed one of the pages showing the widgets erroneously over to the default template, it no longer was being displayed. Looks like I will need to change all the impacted pages to use the default template
Hi Kevin,
Yes, you need to update all the affected pages to use the Default Template. Please let us know if you need any further help with this.
Thanks
I now have a different sidebar that is displaying on pages it shouldn’t be. It has been working fine up until recently, so I don’t know if there was a Pro update that introduced something to break these for me. The pages affected are already set to ‘Default Template’. The sidebar used for these pages was set to display on specific pages. I changed to just the parent page and enabled the parent page sidebar on child page option with no change. I may need to move to a plugin solution if this issue can’t be resolved
Hello Kevin,
Please provide the URL/s of the page/s that has the correct and incorrect sidebars. As for comparison, please provide us with the page with the correct sidebar display. It also helps to give the name of the sidebar and on which page it should only display so we can double and figure out a resolution to the issue.
Cheers.
I gave up trying to get the custom sidebar feature to work. I went back to using a dynamic widget plugin that works much better. Shame i had to install a separate plugin though.
Something definitely changed in one of the theme updates in the past couple weeks to cause these to break. They had been working for us as expected. We didn’t notice it being off until last week, so I could have been an older update.
I understand these are from the earlier days of X, but perhaps they could be looked at sometime to bring into the modern Pro
Thanks for letting us know Kevin.
