Hi, I am looking to create a sidebar drop down navigation option. How can I do this?

You can use Navigation Menu widget under Appearance > Widgets to display menu items in sidebar. Here is a screencast that you can take a look.

I do not have the option to make it a drop down.

Did you created the menu already? Please create at least one menu so that you can use it in the Navigation Menu widget for your sidebar. For more details about this widget, please check this out: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/navigation-menu-widget/

Please keep in mind that the dropdown feature will only be available for the Archive widget and Category widget. You might need to install 3rd party plugin to be able to have a dropdown menu widget. Please check it out here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/dropdown+menu+widget/
